About Constitution Defenders Forum

Who We Are

The Constitution Defenders Forum (CDF) is a Non-Partisan civic response to the various legal and extra-legal attacks on Zimbabwe's Constitution. Our broad aim is to advance values and adherence to the constitution and the rule of law, thereby defending the constitutional gains that were made by the constitutional making process of 2013.

CDF serves as a platform for all Zimbabweans to collaborate and work together to defend the constitution, promote constitutionalism and advance the expansion of constitutional rights, democracy and the rule of law. We strive to restore people's hope in the promise of a prosperous, shared future for all Zimbabweans.

Our Team

The CDF is comprised of dedicated Zimbabweans from various backgrounds including legal experts, civil society activists, community leaders, and concerned citizens who share a common vision for a constitutional Zimbabwe. Our leadership team brings together decades of experience in constitutional law, human rights advocacy, and democratic governance.

Our Goals

Our central strategic objective is to recognize and acknowledge that the future of a prosperous Zimbabwe can only be anchored on the basis of a New Consensus - a New Social Contract captured in a modern Constitution that celebrates the values of Democracy and the rule of law.

We envision a new social contract that puts faith in our collective and reciprocal responsibilities and obligations. A new consensus that seeks to depersonalize the state and public spaces to create accountability and equality through this social contract, scaffolded by strong independent institutions within the state.

We work towards societal transformation where a new citizen emerges, driven by a value system of respect, love, humility and accountability.

Our Values

We believe that the character of individual citizens contributes significantly to the moral strength of any nation. A just, transparent and inclusive Zimbabwe can only be anchored and founded on a constitutional state where nation-building values are prioritized.
